For the high-born on the hill,
and their fancy dresses,
of cotton from Barbados,
and cruelty-free synthetics.

Where the soldiers all emerge,
from that stinking tide,
were sad to meet,
the ones for whom they died.

Their gunships followed closely;
a horizon filled with sails.
Their numbers stretched beyond the bridge,
all the way to the east-side jail.

They sang "take care of your body // harken what I said".

I don't know how to feel.
